Ethan – at five – is already infinitely better than me with technology. Both Ethan and Isla know how to access my music on any device in the house (which has it’s downsides when I’m out running and my motivating spotify playlist is intercepted by ‘The Tidy Up Song’*). Children are so naturally curious, I envy them. The joys of being young. Exploring, learning, playing, with no purpose other than to find ‘stuff’ out. Once you grow up that curiosity seems to vanish – almost overnight. Because you’re suddenly racing to keep up with life.
Like everyone, our life is a blur much of the time and the idea of exploring for the sake of simply – exploring – is completely alien. There’s pretty much a purpose and use for every single minute of each day.
That’s perhaps why my Retreats are as much of a treat for me as they are for my lovely guests. Time really does slow right down. March’s retreat was a complete joy with such a fabulous bunch of girls, each running a Baby Sensory franchise in various parts of the North (incidentally Baby Sensory** looks incredible – wish I’d known about it when my two were small – different interactive set ups every week, they all do an awesome job).
Some of their lovely testimonials are below. But the real theme throughout was how grateful the girls were to just step off the treadmill for a while. To have time to put their feet up, be looked after, go for a walk, enjoy good food, drink, not to have to be anywhere or have anything to actually do. Just – for once – to have time on their side.
“Absolutely loved our visit this weekend. From start to finish Ange looked after us and was the perfect host! The cottage was beautiful, amazing food, lovely drinks, relaxing treatment ( I loved my reflexology) and the Pilates class was so informative and relaxing too. I can’t recommend Secret Warriors enough and will definitely be raving to all my mummy friends and toddler Sense mummies x” – Lisa
“An amazing experience – exactly what I needed! Ange had literally thought of everything and was the perfect host, we didn’t have to lift a finger. The food was beautiful, the venue perfect and loved the Pilates class! Beautiful scenery for a walk in the fresh air. Left feeling completely relaxed, reenergised and de-stressed. Would highly recommend this as a getaway with friends, works team building or just a girly treat! Thank you Ange for a perfect weekend x” – Sally

“Feeling refreshed, energised and relaxed after the most perfect weekend at Secret Warriors retreat with Ange. She was an amazing host, so welcoming and looked after us all from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The accommodation was modern, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Food was amazing and our glasses and/or mugs never ran dry! (Mainly glasses 🥂😉)
Pilates was one of the high-lights for me! Left feeling so calm and relaxed. I’d highly recommend a getaway to Secret Warriors. Simply can’t fault it 😍
Thanks so much Ange for looking after us and making it such a memorable weekend for our team x” – Claire
*The twins’ school plays ‘The Tidy Up Song’ during tidy up – we’ve discovered it also works at home… genius.
